Coldplay
Went to the show with Linda and John and Shelly. Hooked up with them at DIX for beers and food and then cabbed over to GM Place. Fiona Apple opened up the show – I like her, Linda didn’t. We were sitting on the side but I wanted to be closer so we moved to the seats next to the stage. Enjoying the show – Fiona is kind of a freak – look like she took way too many drugs and now is in a permanent state of high. I like her odd voice and lyrics though and watching her on stage was kind of mesmerizing. Then someone comes up and wants our seats, well they weren’t ours so we got up and apologized and it was Sarah McLachlan – we took her seats. I didn’t say anything to her as I was trying to get out of her way. I felt like saying “Hey remember me ? I put my arm tightly around you a few months ago"
My review of Coldplay is much different than past reviews - I was in the stands - I don't like that - I was seeing a very good show but on the mellow side. The lyrics and lights are great - Chris Martin is a good frontman but they lack umff. There's no pow - there's no throwing your hands in the air and lipsynching along. I'm a metal head but I enjoyed as did Linda and the rest of the sold out crowd.
